18MAY18 - Post of All Posts

Today was a full travel day, but in a foreign country, there is still plenty to see and do, even if you're only moving from train station to airport to train station.  We started the day at 0555, a little bit later than Norwich, but early for the tourist lifestyle.  As a group of 24 (22 students, 2 coaches (professor/guide)) we took a bus from our apartment things to the Berlin Airport where we boarded a plane to Cologne Germany.  From there we took a train, to a train station, makes sense right?  This is where we actually started to do something other than sit and nap.
Right outside of the train station in Cologne was the Cologne Cathedral which is a tremendous structure of unbelievable detail and precision.  It is amazing to think that a structure of this size and caliber was built with none of the tools we use today for construction and to the level of expertise that it was built.  Impressive engineering for an all rock structure 600 feet in the air, in the year 1300 (when it was built).
This is a photo of the Cologne Cathedral featuring a bunch of people.
This is a photo from the top of the bell tower within the cathedral.  Reminds me of the scene from Saving Private Ryan where the sniper is in the bell tower.

We were in Cologne for a few hours, where we saw the church, ate lunch and got to do more tourist type things.  From there we took a three hour train ride to Trier Germany, the oldest city in Germany.  We haven't really done anything but eat dinner and prepare for tomorrow where we will spend the day in Trier, should be a much better post...

This is a photo of Coach Dawn leading us to.... we aren't really sure, but that's part of being a tourist, I think.
This is a photo of two cadets sitting in the airport, eager to get on the plane!
This is the best photo I took all day.  Somethings don't really change.
This is a photo of Berlin that was taken at 0430, on the way back from the club... The group left 90 minutes later. (sent in by an anonymous trip goer)
