Today was full of critical thinking and design innovation. We completed our storm water/sewage drain overflow project and moved on to another activity, this time relating to solar panels in Tucson, Arizona.

Working hard or hardly working? |
Both of the activities that we have done so far are not necessarily all about the numbers and measurements. They are more geared towards solving customer and community needs, while also being cost effective and minimally invasive to the surroundings. It just goes to show that engineering is more than just measurements and math.
Coach Dawn saved the day by bringing in typical German snacks for us to enjoy while taking a break from all the hard work.

The conclude a productive day in the classroom, Ralf Steeg, an environmental engineer and landscaping architect, spoke to us about urban water management and his company, Luritec. Mr. Steeg has been in the water management business for 15 years and his company has projects in Germany, Chile, Vietnam, India, and China.

He showed us the history behind water treatment and what the future has to hold. There were a multitude of possibilities for urban water treatment including plants that were located in the water near the coasts of cities. Overall, very fascinating and inspiring to hear his thought process and creative ideas.
